Studies from Home is a multi-faceted artistic exploration that examines the concept of home through various mediums and techniques. This body of work culminated in a three-channel video installation but also encompassed drawings, photographs, and installation pieces.

Investigative Process
To find out what constitutes a home, I employed a variety of methods:

Photography:
- Captured entry and exit points like the Hearth, Doormat, and Butterfly

Photograms:
- Documented furniture, toys, clothes, dust, breadcrumbs.. within the home using photograms

Tracing Objects:
- Outlined items scattered throughout the house, such as clothes and Legos on the floor
- Traced the nightly ritual of removing clothes or pillows from the bed using graphite on paper

Experimental Video:
- Used a child's spy camera wristwatch to explore household spaces and fixtures
- Recorded window shapes, kitchen counters, and walking patterns through the home

Conceptual Approach
The work maintains a deliberate tone that avoids sentimentality, instead focusing on neutral documentation and visual abstraction. This approach draws inspiration from artists like Bernd and Hilla Becher, known for their objective photographic typologies.
Symbolic Materials
I collected and utilized everyday materials that took on symbolic meaning:
- Breadcrumbs: Gathered over time, used to create abstract photograms
- Household Traces: Graphite drawings of bedside items represented daily rituals

Video Installation
The final exhibition featured a three-channel video installation titled "Subject to Change" that explored three key materials:
1. Breadcrumbs: 200+ pounds falling to create a symbolic pile
2. Milk: 20 gallons poured into a large glass container
3. Dishes: 150 white ceramic plates shattered against a wall
These videos transform mundane household items into symbols of family bonds, nourishment, and the potential for change.

"Subject to Change" is a three-channel video installation that explores the concept of home through everyday rituals and objects. The work results from my two-year investigation into the meaning of home and family bonds.
The installation consists of three single-channel videos:

1. Breadcrumbs: A mesmerizing display of 100+ pounds of breadcrumbs falling continuously for eleven minutes, creating a growing pile that symbolizes the accumulation of daily family life.

2. Milk: Twenty gallons of milk pour into a large glass container, overflowing its boundaries in a monumental representation of nourishment and abundance.

3. Dishes: 150 white ceramic plates are hurled against a stone wall, shattering upon impact and alluding to destruction and renewal within domestic life.

As a result, seemingly mundane objects and actions become powerful symbols of familial rituals, nourishment, and the ever-changing nature of home. This work invites viewers to reflect on their own domestic experiences and the significance of everyday moments in shaping our understanding of home and family.
